Royane Harkati’s exotic look has origin from her mixed roots of a Moroccan mother and Spanish father. She lived in Morocco with her grandmother the first nine years of her life before moving to Norway to her mother. Royane’s childhood memories consists of a lot of moving and bad economy. Some turmoil episodes eventually resulted in her being a part of the foster system for periods of time. Due to the disorderly moving from city to city she struggled to keep friendship and spent a lot of time by herself. Her escape from aloneness became the urge to artistically express herself from an early age starting with music, make-up and fashion.
Since 2015 she has been an up and coming influencer on Instagram as a fashionista and make-up artist. This has given her a huge network in the artistic industry and numerous opportunities such as designing clothing collection, modelling and DJ jobs. Today she has a huge follower mass on Instagram, Tik-Tok, Spotify and YouTube. Currently the largest amount of her followers on all platforms are located in the US.
Royane was introduced to music at an early stage with a multicultural mix of Arabian, Moroccan and Spanish genres. She has cherished both singing and dancing all her life and went into experimenting with song writing as a teenager. Even though music has been her passion in life she was compelled to await during her first years as a single-mother. In 2019 Royane debuted with her first song “Antidote for Love” and she has never looked back since. After hiding her musical talent for several years Royane finally and surprisingly for her followers released her first of four singles in 2019 “Antidote for Love”. Soon after, she followed up with her second single “Flex Like Me”. During the summer she published “Prima Donna” which rapidly became a favourite among her followers. At the end of the year she surprised yet again with another hit “You Ain’t Nuthin’”
Royane is a complex artist still eager to explore as many genres as possible, and with her four released singles she has already proven to be unique with a versatile style. Currently, her musical characteristic would be described as pop, playful hip hop and modern rnb with a touch of Latin Caribbean and Arabic ambience. For Royane the visual concept plays a huge role in how her songs are represented. She gravitate towards the beats that brings to mind a visual idea of atmosphere, location, characters and accoutrements. Further on, by processing her inner illustrations she find inspiration for song writing and vocal melodies. Due to her intricacy in the process of making a song she take pleasure in being a part of everything from beat producing to music video editing. Royane’s artistic strengths in song writing is to creatively combine several melodies, tempos, rhythmic, lyrical and vocal styles. She entertains in English, Moroccan, Arabic and Spanish language which accumulate multitude nationalities. Her divergent vocal characters reflects on her appearances in the music videos which switches forcefully throughout the songs through outfits, makeup and hairstyles. She has explained in previous interviews that this is not her trying to be someone else, but rather her showing all the different part of herself.
Her artistic inspiration comes from a various of factors. However, important musicians have always been such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Etta James, J. Lo, Kendrick Lamar, Outkast, Stefflon Don, Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu and in general women in the music industry of different genres. If she could choose in a range of top five artists that she would like to work with it would be Rosalia, Doja Cat, Rihanna, Pharrell and Billie Eilish.
